I-SPIE: A New Year!

Another Conference has come and gone which means it is time to sign up for committees and start preparing for next year's conference! Please sign up for a committee, put your campus down as a potential host, and fill out an online evaluation form using the links below!:

The Steering Committee:

The purpose of the Steering Committee is to provide leadership for the I-SPIE Representatives Group and its committees. Committee Objectives

  • Continuously evaluate the role of the Steering Committee, other committees, task forces and I-SPIE Representatives group for relevancy and currency.
  • Oversee development and progress of each Committee and Task Force.
  • Recommend methods of implementing goals deriving from I-SPIE conferences.
  • Recommend and implement methods for improving communication and cooperation between the Steering Committee, other committees, task forces, and CSU ILL units as a whole.
  • Consider the most cost effective ways to bring the CSU ILL I-SPIE Representatives, committees and other ILL staff together, virtually or in person to foster continued communication and development of common practices and concerns.
  • Recommend major structural and content changes to I-SPIE Representatives group.
  • Bring to COLD’s attention ILL continuing education opportunities and areas where additional training is desirable.
 
Conference Planning Committee:

The I-SPIE Conference Planning Committee plans and organizes Consortium conferences. The members of this committee will consist of a group of volunteers representing various campuses throughout the CSU System. Committee Objectives

  • Meet regularly for approximately one year prior to each annual I-SPIE conference for the purpose of planning and organizing the conference.
  • Select a CSU campus as the site for the annual conference, in consultation with the I-SPIE Steering Committee. NOTE: A representative from the host campus will be a member of the Conference Planning Committee.
  • Select the dates and times of the conference, in consultation with the I-SPIE Steering Committee.
  • Invite all CSU/ILL staff to provide input on priorities and topics of interest to be presented at the conference.
  • Identify and arrange for speakers and presenters for training, workshops, presentations and small group sessions.
  • Create a schedule/agenda and send to the ILL list in advance of the conference.
  • Work with the conference site staff to provide information on travel, transportation, lodging and dining options near the campus.
  • Send registration forms and information to the ILL list in advance of the conference.
  • Work in consultation with the I-SPIE Web Team to post continual updates to the conference website.
  • Arrange for optional evening social activities, dinners, etc.
  • Approximates and works within a budget.
  • Prepare a summary of results/feedback for use in future conferences.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the conference and recommend enhancements for future conferences.
 
Statistics Committee:

The purpose of the Statistics Committee is to investigate, evaluate, and establish uniform standards for the collection and reporting of CSU system-wide Interlibrary Loan statistics. Committee Objectives

  • Provide a guide to collecting statistics for the entire consortium.
  • Gather ILL borrowing and lending statistics concerning fill rate, turnaround time, and any other statistics deemed necessary.
  • Process raw data into an easy to read form such as a statistics report and graphs.
  • Submit finished statistics to the Web Committee to have it posted to the I-SPIE website.
 
Web Committee

The Web Committee is charged with creating and maintaining any I-SPIE websites, social media presence, and any future technology used to share information online. These forms of communication will be used to disseminate information between I-SPIE members. Committee Objectives

  • Maintain an I-SPIE website and make additions and changes as recommended by the Web Committee and the Steering Committee.
  • If there is a need or request for I-SPIE to be on any social media websites the Web Committee will maintain the official profile.
  • Work with the Conference Planning Committee to share information, documents, and other online materials concerning any I-SPIE conferences with the entire consortium.
  • Generate original content to encourage I-SPIE participation and communication outside the yearly conference. Content includes: updates of campuses, accomplishments of individual members, ideas, and any other information individuals want to share with the entire consortium.
  • Upload the official record of all meetings and minutes from all working groups.
  • Make sure the I-SPIE contacts list is up to date twice a year and make changes as necessary.
