A New Interface!

August 21, 2015

Hello I-SPIE! This is the new I-SPIE website. The web committee felt that the old website did not have enough functionality and was not very user friendly. This new site, powered by Wordpress, will have all the old content from the previous websites and will have new features such as comments and a community blog to provide a steady stream of content. We want the website to be more than just a place to drop off statistics, we want it to be a place to continue the conversations started at the yearly conference.

With the new blogging feature we hope everyone will post at some point. To maintain a consistent format the web committee asks that you send us an email with a text file of your post and any pictures you would like added, or drop them in the community Google Drive (Instructions on the "submit" page). We will then upload the post. We cannot stress enough that we will not edit the post for content. It will be your words in your voice.

Types of things we would like to see in the blog:

  • Campus highlights: once a month we can write a blog post about the history of one school and their library. Add pictures of the library and show the current staff. Speaking of staff...
  • New staff introductions: when a new staff member is hired we can ask them to write a post introducing themselves to I-SPIE and again this would be a great opportunity for pictures. They can tell us what their job is and what they did before applying to a CSU ILL department. They can also let us know anything they want to share: hobbies, children, pets, passions, etc.
  • Goodbyes: Sometimes I-SPIE members retire or get a new job. A farewell post showing everything they've accomplished and what their future plans are would be a nice way to say goodbye for people outside their campus.
  • A Weekly Writer: People can share their department's achievements (we just got reusable book bands!) and share great sources of information and new ideas (This year at ALA I learned that... for more information read this "link").

Please let us know your thoughts and share any new ideas.
