ULMS Resource Sharing Testing

January 26, 2017

Hello,

It was nice to be able to see many of you recently at the ExLibris Workshops held in Fullerton. Those of you who attended the third day were able to see an overview of the resource sharing workflow. The Resource Sharing Governance Task Force, GTF, is now planning to host a series of testing sessions with each individual campus to provide everyone a chance to do a “live” run through of the resource sharing process. In order for this to be possible, Megan Drake from ExLibris, will be setting up the necessary configurations to enable resource sharing at each

New Statistics Form

January 24, 2017

The Statistics Committee has created a new form for this year's statistics. This form adds a few new questions and is in a new format. Please fill out the form for the 2015-2016 fiscal year by February 3rd because this information will help the GTF configure the initial Resource Sharing ROTAs in Alma.

The form can be accessed at this link This link will take you to an external website in a new tab. or by filling out the form below. Corey Schroeder was kind enough to copy all the questions from the form and create a document for people to refer to while finding the information for the survey. His document is available here: Survey Doc This link will take you to an external website in a new tab.

The "new" website has grown a bit since it launched in fall 2015. Relevant content from previous websites has been migrated, many updates have been posted, and more and more people are visiting the website. Between August and December 31st, 2015, the website was viewed 911 times. In 2016 the website was viewed 6,221 times total. June was the most popular month with 1,118 views, possibly because everyone was getting ready for the I-SPIE conference in Fresno. The homepage was the most visited page, probably because all the updates are posted there, with 1,348 views. The next highest viewed page

By Christopher Lee

All of us at Cal Poly SLO have received a lot of questions about the stress relief programs at the Kennedy Library. We currently have two programs providing stress relief to two different demographics. The Take5 program, formerly known as Stressbusters, provides activities for our library patrons to unwind after a long day of classes and homework. We also have the Sunshine Committee to plan activities to help the other group that spends all day at the library: library faculty and staff.

Hello I-SPIE:

Thank you everyone who filled out the conference location survey! After 37 unanimous and anonymous responses I think it is safe to say that the conference will be held at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this year! Everyone here at Cal Poly is excited to host and we have a wonderful Conference Planning Committee of I-SPIEers, and helpful Cal Poly staff volunteers, assembled so we should have more updates for you soon!

GTF Item Policy Survey

August 25, 2016

Hello I-SPIE:

In order to make sure everything is tested in Alma the Governance Task Force (GTF) developed a short survey on how long every institution lends different material types. The answers to this survey will help with testing and possibly for recommendations of shared policies. The results of the survey will be posted on the statistics page.

Vote for the I-SPIE 2017 Location!

August 3, 2016

At this I-SPIE conference Cal Poly San Luis Obispo was the only school that signed up to host this years conference. We already have approval from our library administration to host. Normally we would wait for the Steering Committee to approve us, but we really want to get started on making hotel arrangements since this is a tourist town and they fill up fast and early. Please fill out this survey to say if you want us to host or if you want to volunteer instead!

The voting is now closed and the conference will be at California Polytechnic State University at

Update to COLD

June 3, 2016

In late April Cyril Oberlander, Dean of Humboldt University Library and I-SPIE liaison to COLD, gave a report to the rest of the deans updating them on our activities. The report contained some newer information that might not be widely known in our consortia. This includes sections on the results of the ILL Policies Survey, the CSU I-SPIE Knowledge Sharing & Mentoring Program Proposal, etc. Please download the document here This link will take you to an external website in a new tab..

Hello I-SPIE:

Even though we are all part of a CSU library we are not all the same. To flesh out the statistics on the website I will be sending out some short surveys to gather information. Please take a minute to share with all of I-SPIE what programs you use in Resource Sharing and Interlibrary Loan. Hopefully by sending out a few forms I can avoid bombarding everyone with constant emails!

Thank you!

What I Learned at ILLiad

March 22, 2016

Last week I attended the International ILLiad Conference in Virginia Beach! Between playing Minute To Win It games, showing a snazzy poster, and chillin with Neptune I learned a thing or two about how to use certain features in ILLiad and what enhancements are coming.

ILLiad and WorldShare moving to a cloud based web app

OCLC and Atlas is looking into creating a combined cloud based web app. Very little information has been given other than they are looking into creating this new ILLiad/WorldShare hybrid. If you are interested in working on this and possibly being an early adopter of

Using Reprints Desk and Other Document Suppliers to Save Money

CPS reprints comparison chart

A little while ago I received a phone call from Darlene Nowak at San Diego State University. She knew Cal Poly, like San Diego, was using Reprints Desk to save money on copyright. Darlene thought it would be a good idea for our statistics to be shared with members of the ILL community so together we made a poster presentation This link will take you to an external website in a new tab. for the International ILLiad Conference in Virginia Beach.

This graph visualizes the difference in price between Reprints Desk and the CCC at Cal Poly SLO.
