Hello fellow ISPIE’ers, As the months continue to pass us by (much too quickly), we must begin planning our 2018 I-SPIE conference. As of now, there are only 2 members on the conference planning committee, and no host campus. This is a very fun and enriching experience to be a part of! For every successful conference, there is a committee behind it. So don’t be afraid to sign up! If you would like to join the committee or feel that your campus might want to host it, just let us know! Thanks everyone! Isabel Pina, CNO – isabel.pina@csun.edu Priscilla Ortiz

CSU+ Flip Card Experiment

Hello I-SPIE, While working on generating Flip Card templates we ran into a snag with the barcode. The barcodes provided by Tricor contained a one time use tracking number and we needed to create barcodes without that piece of information. We had the data, but needed a way of generating the barcode itself in Word. So we scoured the internet and found an add-on that promised to do the trick. This gave us a test code, but we still needed to confirm that the code would scan before sinking more time into creating the Flip Cards. Thankfully, I had a

How To Change CSU+ Label in Primo

June 1, 2017

CSU+ resource sharing

By Dawnelle Ricciardi When we create CSU+ requests in Primo, there is a blue command line that says, Resource Sharing Request that we click to submit the request. Several libraries are changing that to say, Request from CSU Libraries: CSU+ These are instructions to make that change: In Alma, go to

Scroll down to:

You will see a long list of almost 400 different labels. You can do Control F to search for “resource sharing”, or you can scroll until you find “Resource Sharing Request” in the second column. There are two

Hello I-SPIE

Join me in welcoming Marissa Lopez to CFS ILL. She will be in ILL full-time as the lending coordinator.

Over the last few years, Marissa has been helping us part-time while also working in circulation as the LINK+ coordinator, among other duties. LINK+ was moved to circulation when the library was under construction and has remained there since we’ve moved back into the new building early 2009.

With the sun setting on LINK+ for the CSUs and other local changes in some services, the decision was made to move CSU+ to ILL. Marissa will be the lead for

Role needed for this: Fulfillment Administrator

  1. Go to Fulfillment > Fulfillment Configuration > General > Other Settings.

  2. Find the setting rs_use_new_mashup_form and set to “true”.

  3. After changing this setting, you may now edit your form. Under Fulfillment > Fulfillment Configuration > Configuration Menu > Discovery Interface Display Logic > Resource Sharing Form Customization. This only shows if you set the “rs_use_new_mashup_form” to true.

  4. After clicking on “Resource Sharing Form Customization”, you have four places you will edit. “Resource Sharing request fields”, “Book fields”, “Article fields”, “Delivery Information Fields”. This is what shows to the public in Primo. No settings should

I-SPIE the highway to connection

We are very excited about the conference coming up in July! Registration is now closed and we are at capacity! People must be excited to learn about Alma because we have slightly exceeded our estimates on the number of people registering for the conference! Based on attendance from past conferences we expected 30-40 participants and we have over 50!

I know there are people who would like to attend the conference who cannot make the trip. We will be recording, and possibly streaming, as many presentations as possible (some presenters may request not to be recorded.) We encourage people who could

ILLiad Group Maintenance for CSU Statistics

February 1, 2017
Image
I-SPIE Fresno Statistics graphic

Joe Adkins from San Francisco State University came up with a great system to gather CSU statistics for both Borrowing and Lending. This is a fairly fast and simple solution to an otherwise complicated issue. Using the Group Maintenance tool in ILLiad new groups can be made to gather specific statistics in the ILLiad Web Reports.

  1. Go to Systems tab in ILLiad ⇒ Click Group Maintenance
  2. Click new and give the group a name (Rapid-CSU for example) and save.
  3. On the left, click the newly created group name.
  4. On the top, search RAPID in lending string and a list of Rapid

Statistics Using the ILLiad Custom Request Search

When collecting departmental statistics there are many wonderful tools you can use. Many people use the ILLiad web reports, the OCLC online statistics, and the Rapid ILL reports. All of those web reports provide quick and clean reports for almost any situation you will need, but ILLiad has another tool for complex or unique statistics reports. The ILLiad Custom Request Search allows you to create custom reports from scratch. I needed to find out how many requests Cal Poly borrowed from, and loaned to, other CSU libraries. To get a complete picture I decided to use the Custom Request Search

COLD Reaffirms Their Commitment to Alma Resource Sharing

January 27, 2017

The Resource Sharing Governance Task Force is reminding all members of the CSU Libraries that in April 2016, the Council of Library Deans voted unanimously in support of the following 7 recommendations related to resource sharing:

  1. COLD agrees to a “CSU first” model of resource sharing in which the 23 libraries commit to lending and borrowing of returnables and e-resources within ALMA as the first tier of their resource-sharing model. [This recommendation means that  CSU Resource Sharing departments will use the Alma Peer-to-Peer Resource Sharing functionality.]
  2. COLD asks the CO to commit to hiring a permanent position that will continue
