Welcome Leslie Botsford!

January 27, 2016

Hello Fellow ILLers:

CSU Chico is very happy to announce that we will have a new staff member beginning February 1st.  Interlibrary Services combined with Circulation and Reserve three and a half years ago.  In November 2014 we had our Reserve person move to Texas on short notice.  The position was never filled and as we all know, Jo Ann retired in December.  A four person department became three, and then two!  Leslie Botsford is coming to us with six years of Butte County Library experience at the local Chico branch.  She has performed a wide variety of

As most of you know by now, our good friend and colleague Jo Ann Bradley will be retiring this month. This is sad news for us, but glad news for Jo Ann! After working at Chico State for 25 years, she is starting a new, exciting chapter in her life!

Jo Ann began her career at IBM, where she worked for 8 years. She was hired at Chico State as a temporary clerical in the Library, but moved to ILL after one year, and worked her way up to become ILL Department Head. Switching from a corporate to an academic environment

Purchase On Demand In The ULMS

November 16, 2015

Well, that does take a little of the fun out of it. I was thinking we could respond directly. I also put out a few ideas via email that might be valuable topics to get some opinions on. I won’t recreate the email here, but one of my favorites is Purchase on Demand. I know several of you are already doing some sort of purchase on demand in your library. Chances are it is not as free- wheeling as I’d like to see in the future. Along with Alma I believe we could incorporate ILL budgets and standards so we

There are a few universals in this world. We know everyone can count on death, taxes, and not having quite enough money in the budget to do all the things we want to do. It is because of this third point that it is very important to find ways to save money in your department. One way we have been able to cut costs at Cal Poly SLO is to use Reprints Desk as a means of lowering copyright cost.

As you know copyright payments can be very expensive, often costing thousands of dollars a year for each Resource Sharing

A New Interface!

August 21, 2015

Hello I-SPIE! This is the new I-SPIE website. The web committee felt that the old website did not have enough functionality and was not very user friendly. This new site, powered by Wordpress, will have all the old content from the previous websites and will have new features such as comments and a community blog to provide a steady stream of content. We want the website to be more than just a place to drop off statistics, we want it to be a place to continue the conversations started at the yearly conference.

With the new blogging feature we hope everyone
